Instrument Technician I, II, or III
About this role
Dominion Energy seeks Instrument Technician I, II, or III to inspect, test, service, repair, calibrate, and install control instruments and systems at power stations. This role is critical to maintaining instrumentation that monitors and controls reactor and plant operations. Position level matches candidate experience, with advancement to project leadership and training responsibilities for senior levels.
Responsibilities
- —Inspect, test, service, repair, configure, calibrate, and install indicating, recording, and automatic control instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, thermometers, regulators, and similar components
- —Locate causes of defective instrument performance, report findings, and replace component parts as required
- —Use portable pressure gauges, manometers, and other test equipment to diagnose issues
- —Perform preventive maintenance on instrumentation systems
- —Test flue gas, read meters, and record data as required
- —Perform engineering functions for control loop modifications
- —Maintain drawings and configuration documentation related to instrumentation
- —Act as project leader for control system upgrades and/or modifications (Level II/III)
- —Train and guide less experienced Instrument Technicians as needed (Level II/III)
Qualifications
Instrument Technician I: Associate's Degree in Electronics or related technology with 0–2+ years of related industrial experience, OR High School Diploma/GED with at least 2 years of related industrial experience. Instrument Technician II: Associate's Degree in Electronics or related technology with at least 3 years of related industrial experience, OR High School Diploma/GED with at least 5 years of related industrial experience. Instrument Technician III: Associate's Degree in Electronics or related technology with at least 5+ years of related industrial experience, OR High School Diploma/GED with at least 7 years of related industrial experience. Additional requirements: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot various components, ability to utilize configuration drawings, valid Driver's License, and must pass EEI Technician (TECH) aptitude test.
Desired
- —Fossil power station instrumentation and controls experience
- —Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS)
- —Start-up/operational support experience for fossil power plants
- —Experience with Emerson Ovation controls
- —Control system upgrade experience
- —PLC experience including ladder logic programming
Location
Must have availability and flexibility to work overtime including days, nights, and weekends. Working conditions include exposure to cold (51–75%), energized wires (51–75%), fumes (51–75%), heat (51–75%), loud noise (51–75%), operation of machinery (51–75%), outdoor work (51–75%), and travel (51–75%); office work up to 25%.
