About this role
Train and qualify nuclear plant operators at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, a dual-unit BWR facility. This role combines classroom instruction, simulator training, and in-plant evaluations to develop licensed and non-licensed operators while maintaining NRC compliance and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- —Train and evaluate Operations personnel in classroom settings, control room simulator, and plant environment
- —Instruct and assess non-licensed operators, initial license candidates, licensed operators, shift technical advisors, shift managers, and other station personnel
- —Obtain and maintain Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification and instructor qualifications per station standards
- —Develop and maintain training materials including lesson plans, simulator scenarios, job performance measures, procedures, curriculum schedules, and evaluation tools
- —Identify, analyze, and address performance gaps using the station's corrective action program
- —Support simulator fidelity and certification in accordance with NRC regulations and ANSI standards
- —Participate in performance improvement activities such as self-assessments, benchmarking, and program reviews
- —Support refueling outage activities and response to emergent plant issues
- —Participate on-call in the Emergency Response Organization
Qualifications
- —Bachelor of Science in a technical field from an accredited college or university AND four years of experience in operation or operations training of a commercial nuclear power plant or Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, OR
- —RO/SRO license/certification AND High school diploma/GED AND six years of experience in operation or operations training of a commercial nuclear power plant or Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, OR
- —High school diploma/GED AND eight years of experience in operation or operations training department of a commercial nuclear power plant or Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program
- —Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program instructor experience (Prototype, 'A' School, or Power School) and qualifications (Engineering Watch Supervisor, Engineering Officer of the Watch, Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor, Propulsion Plant Watch Officer) considered in lieu of RO/SRO license/certification
Desired
- —Previous Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) License or Certification at a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR)
- —Previous Reactor Operator (RO) License at Susquehanna
- —Ten (10) years of Operations experience
- —Previous classroom and simulator instructor experience
- —Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated potential to meet Susquehanna instructional standards
- —Experience developing regulatory examinations in accordance with NUREG-1021
- —Completion of INPO Instructor Certification Program
- —Previous supervisory experience
- —Proficiency with VISION© training administration software
- —Proficiency operating L3M™ simulator software
