About this role
Lead TerraPower's Fuel Performance Team as manager of engineers developing fuel performance tools for the Natrium advanced reactor project. You'll manage team operations, oversee technical deliverables, and support fuel qualification and licensing activities for next-generation sodium fast reactor technology with metallic fuel.
Responsibilities
- —Manage the Fuel Performance Team and oversee day-to-day operations
- —Develop and maintain project schedules in collaboration with Senior Manager
- —Perform technical approvals on team deliverables and work products
- —Develop and deploy nuclear fuel performance tools for advanced metal fuel technology
- —Oversee verification and validation of fuel performance modeling tools
- —Identify key testing activities to support validation of fuel performance tools and fuel qualification
- —Assure compliance to procedures, standards, and regulatory criteria
- —Establish and enforce best practices within the team
- —Communicate engineering and project priorities to team, stakeholders, and management
- —Deliver project work within schedule and cost constraints
- —Coordinate with Material Development and Qualification, Fuel Supply, and Core Design groups
- —Support the fuel licensing process and inform regulatory activities
- —Implement quality assurance policy and requirements
- —Establish and enforce procedures to ensure a safe working environment
- —Recruit additional staff in collaboration with Human Resources
- —Train and develop young engineers
Qualifications
- —B.S. or higher in relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university
- —8+ years of relevant engineering experience
- —Two years of previous supervisory or mentoring experience or equivalent people leadership experience
- —Advanced knowledge and experience in nuclear quality programs, design control, and configuration management principles, practices, and tools
- —Nuclear industry knowledge and experience
- —Proven track record in planning, budgeting, and execution of testing or modeling activities
- —Proven track record in successful management and leadership
- —Effective verbal and written communication skills
- —High degree of trust and integrity with ability to communicate openly and foster teamwork
- —Ability to perform both individually and as a team contributor
Desired
- —Experience working to ASME NQA-1
- —Experience with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B control programs
- —Proven ability to direct small teams with minimal oversight
- —Knowledge of fuel performance modeling and/or fuel irradiation testing
- —Knowledge of metallic fuel and/or sodium fast reactor technologies
