Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Two (2) years documented field machining work experience
- Proficiency with portable drilling, boring, turning, and grinding operations
- Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments
- Ability to read technical drawings and reference materials
- Pass nuclear industry background check and pre-employment drug/alcohol fitness for duty
- Successful completion of required nuclear training and qualifications
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Ability to lift 50–60 lbs
About this role
Field Nuclear Machinist supporting Westinghouse nuclear plants. Perform field machining operations using portable and stationary equipment (drilling, boring, turning, grinding) at multiple reactor sites to support critical onsite projects and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform field machining using portable drilling, boring, turning, and grinding operations
- Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and precision grinding equipment
- Use precision measuring instruments to verify work quality and dimensional accuracy
- Read and interpret technical drawings, reference manuals, and assembly instruction guides
- Follow industrial safety and health programs and nuclear site protocols
- Perform work of equal or lower skill level as assigned by supervisors
Preferred qualifications
- CNC equipment operation experience
- Three (3) years machine shop work experience
- Five (5) years verifiable Millwright or Pipe Fitter experience
Location, schedule, and travel
Onsite at multiple nuclear plant locations; training conducted in Manning, SC. 12-hour shifts (days or nights as assigned), 6–7 days per week, year-round availability required.
