FHE Field Service Technician III
About this role
Westinghouse Field Service Technician III specializing in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of nuclear fuel handling equipment and outage-critical crane systems at operating nuclear power plants worldwide. Requires Unescorted Access status and hands-on technical expertise with mechanical, electrical, and PLC systems in safety-critical environments.
Responsibilities
- —Install, set up, maintain, inspect, calibrate, and troubleshoot fuel handling and outage-critical crane equipment at customer nuclear sites
- —Review operational/maintenance procedures and technical drawings; perform equipment modifications, testing, and process qualifications under engineering guidance
- —Accurately document equipment performance issues and verify corrective actions prior to operational use
- —Maintain Unescorted Access status and comply with all nuclear power plant security and fitness-for-duty programs
- —Report field progress, changes, problems, and corrective actions to service supervisor daily
- —Participate in continuous training to maintain certifications and stay current with procedures and technology
- —Work safely with hazardous materials in compliance with all safety protocols
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent plus 2-year post-secondary degree/certificate (or equivalent experience); 2–5 years related experience demonstrating mechanical, electrical, and PLC aptitude; ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally and sustain full range of motion (reach, climb, kneel, squat, grasp, bend, sit, stand) for minimum 4 hours/day; must pass Westinghouse physical including spirometer test for respirator use; subject to security clearance, Unescorted Access, and fitness-for-duty program requirements.
Desired
Nuclear industry experience preferred.
Location
Remote (anywhere in United States) with 60–70% travel required. Projects typically 2–4 weeks; Spring/Fall may require 2–3 months continuous travel. Physical demands include standing/working 4+ hours daily and working with hazardous materials.
