Engineer - Transmission Relay Protection & Controls (RFOS)
About this role
Transmission relay protection and controls engineer at Entergy responsible for detailed engineering analysis, design, and maintenance of transmission protection systems. Career progression available from Engineer I through Senior Engineer based on experience level (0–6+ years).
Responsibilities
- —Performs detailed engineering analysis in transmission relay protection and controls, including planning, maintenance, design, project management, and operations
- —Develops cost-effective, technically sound solutions using engineering principles and best practices; evaluates alternatives and interprets electrical codes, procedures, standards, and policies
- —Supports compliance with NERC, SERC, and utility regulations; collaborates across Transmission organization disciplines and business units
- —Assists with storm and emergency restoration efforts and implements workplace hazard mitigation measures
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited four-year institution
- —0–2 years (Engineer I), 2–4 years (Engineer II), 4–6 years (Engineer III), or 6+ years (Senior Engineer) of experience in an engineering discipline
- —Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles; strong written and oral communication skills
- —Excellent math and project management skills; ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities
- —Ability to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies
Desired
- —At least 2 years of experience in an engineering discipline
- —Proficiency in short circuit fault analysis and relay protection and controls
- —Strong technical knowledge in designing protection schemes and relay settings for transmission and distribution assets
- —Professional Engineer (PE) license
- —Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification
Location
Onsite in Jackson, Mississippi or New Orleans, Louisiana; up to 25% travel; must be available for storm and emergency restoration duties
