Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical or Computer Engineering) from an accredited four-year institution
- 6+ years of experience in an engineering discipline
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles
- Thorough understanding of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with excellent written and oral communication
- Excellent math and project management skills
- Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software
- Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities under pressure
- Ability to recognize workplace hazards and mitigate them

About this role
Senior-level transmission planning engineer at Entergy supporting grid reliability, asset management, and compliance with NERC/SERC standards. This hybrid role performs detailed engineering analysis, design, and project management across transmission systems, with involvement in routine operations, emergency restoration, and process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed engineering analysis in transmission planning, maintenance, design, project management, and operations
- Apply engineering and technical principles to solve problems and develop cost-effective, technically sound solutions
- Evaluate alternatives and interpret applicable electrical codes, procedures, standards, and policies (NERC, SERC)
- Support compliance with industry standards and utility regulations
- Collaborate with Transmission organization disciplines and company business units to achieve stated goals
- Assist with storm and emergency restoration efforts as necessary
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes
Preferred qualifications
- Electrical Engineering degree
- PE (Professional Engineer) or FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification
- Proficiency in Short Circuit fault analysis and Relay Protection and Controls
- Strong technical knowledge in designing protection schemes and relay settings for transmission and distribution assets
Location, schedule, and travel
Hybrid position based in Jackson, Mississippi; up to 25% travel required; may be required to work additional hours and alternate locations during storms, outages, or emergencies
