Engineer, Principal Regulatory
About this role
Principal Regulatory Engineer at Constellation, the nation's largest clean energy producer. Lead advanced regulatory and technical problem-solving for nuclear power plants as a subject matter expert in regulatory affairs. Drive fleet-wide NRC compliance, licensing strategy, and stakeholder engagement with direct influence over regulatory policy and plant operations.
Responsibilities
- —Perform advanced regulatory and technical analysis supporting plant and fleet regulatory compliance activities
- —Manage regulatory issues end-to-end, ensuring all regulatory products comply with licensing basis, industry codes, standards, and NRC requirements
- —Conduct independent research, reviews, and in-depth analyses on plant safety, reliability, maintainability, and availability matters
- —Provide regulatory/technical expertise and direct involvement in resolving complex regulatory issues across assigned programs
- —Interface directly with NRC, INPO, NEI, and NERC leadership to influence regulatory decisions and shape policies
- —Train, mentor, and coach station and corporate regulatory personnel in subject matter expertise areas
- —Develop strategic recommendations on technologies and regulatory approaches to improve performance, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with regulatory changes
- —Build key stakeholder relationships and serve as recognized external expert in assigned regulatory domains
- —Support emergency response, department duty coverage, and outage activities as needed
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree
- —Minimum 10 years of professional nuclear power or NERC experience with demonstrated exceptional performance
- —Superior regulatory/technical expertise in specific areas (e.g., licensing actions, reportability, performance improvement) with internal and external recognition as regulatory resource
- —Strong written and oral communication skills
- —VP Licensing & Regulatory Affairs approval required for position classification
- —Meet unescorted access or badging requirements and pass favorable medical examination per position duties
Desired
- —Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or certification
- —Advanced technical degree or related graduate coursework
- —Prior nuclear, NRC, regulatory, or licensing experience
Location
Onsite at nuclear power plant facility with emergency response duty and on-call coverage requirements
