About this role

Core Design Engineer at Entergy responsible for managing fuel and core reload projects, maintaining reactor physics models, and ensuring safe, reliable operation of Entergy's nuclear fleet through advanced fuel design and licensing support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage core reload projects including design, licensing, fabrication, transportation, and contract management activities
  • Collaborate on fuel and core designs, including strategic fuel evaluations, to advance industry technology for improved performance and cost effectiveness
  • Maintain detailed core models to support site reactor engineering and plant operations
  • Provide reactor physics and fuel criticality expertise to support analytical and design bases and oversee contracted analyses
  • Design robust fuel systems to ensure safe, reliable operation in accordance with plant design and licensing basis
  • Support reload and startup activities through quality engineering work, standards implementation, and continuous learning from fleet lessons learned

Preferred qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in engineering or business administration
  • Experience in Reactor Engineering, Safety Analysis, Fuel Engineering, or other engineering discipline
  • Experience with nuclear design software packages (CASMO/SIMULATE, SCALE, MCNP, etc.)
  • Experience with programming languages (Python, FORTRAN, Visual Basic, etc.) and shell scripting in UNIX/LINUX environments
  • Professional Engineering license (Nuclear discipline preferred)

Location, schedule, and travel

Onsite at multiple Entergy nuclear stations: Port Gibson MS, Russellville AR, Killona LA, or St. Francisville LA; up to 25% travel required
