About this role

Core Design Engineer at Entergy responsible for safe, reliable core designs supporting the nuclear fleet. This role manages fuel reload projects from design through fabrication and licensing, maintains detailed core physics models, and provides reactor physics expertise to ensure predictable fuel performance and compliance with design/licensing bases.

Responsibilities

  • Manage core reload projects including design, licensing, fabrication, transportation of fuel, and contract management
  • Collaborate on fuel and core designs, including strategic fuel design evaluations, to advance industry technologies for improved fuel performance and cost effectiveness
  • Maintain detailed core models to support site reactor engineering and safe, reliable operation of nuclear fleet
  • Provide reactor physics and fuel criticality expertise to support analytical and design bases; oversee contracted analyses
  • Design and implement robust fuel operation strategies in accordance with plant design, licensing basis, and design limits
  • Support reload and startup activities, ensure quality engineering work, implement fleet lessons learned, and promote industry best practices

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering or closely related discipline (Physical Sciences) with equivalent experience
  • Technical proficiency in nuclear fuel management
  • Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation
  • Outstanding communication, conflict management, and change management skills
  • Proficiency with current computer business applications
  • Experience requirements vary by level: Engineer I (0+ years), Engineer II (2+ years, or 1+ with M.S.), Engineer III (4+ years), Senior Engineer (6+ years, or 5+ with PE)

Desired

  • Master of Science degree in engineering or business administration
  • Experience in Reactor Engineering, Safety Analysis, Fuel Engineering, or other Engineering Discipline
  • Experience with nuclear design software packages (CASMO/SIMULATE, SCALE, MCNP, etc.)
  • Experience with programming languages (Python, FORTRAN, Visual Basic, etc.) and shell scripting in UNIX/LINUX environments
  • Professional Engineering license (Nuclear discipline preferred)

Location

Onsite at one of three Entergy locations: Port Gibson, Mississippi; Russellville, Arkansas; or Killona/St. Francisville, Louisiana. Up to 25% travel required.
