Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from accredited institution (or PE license with appropriate experience); 1–7 years engineering experience depending on career level (Engineer through Engineer Principal); high school diploma or GED
About this role
Support Energy Northwest's $700 million Extended Power Uprate (EPU) project at Columbia Generating Station (BWR), increasing electrical output by 162 MW. Perform complex engineering analyses and provide technical leadership across ~30 system upgrades, primarily during biennial refueling outages. Open to all engineering disciplines with preference for I&C, Electrical, or Mechanical engineers.
Responsibilities
- Perform highly complex engineering analyses and designs supporting operations, systems, programs, and regulatory assessments
- Work independently on specialized engineering requirements using unconventional problem-solving techniques
- Serve as technical advisor on specialized or unique assignments; provide technical leadership and mentoring on complex/extended projects
- Lead small groups to resolve complex EPU implementation issues
- Assure compliance with regulatory and industry guidance; provide interpretation for application
- Identify design, quality, or operational problems and initiate corrective actions
- Develop new policies, programs, plans, and procedures to meet strategic objectives
- Support Emergency Response Organization (ERO) activities and outage operations as required
Preferred qualifications
Prior nuclear power plant and/or power uprate experience; experience identifying technical risks in proposed work; procurement engineering in nuclear/regulated environments; experience developing, implementing, or overseeing Factory, Operational, and Startup/Commissioning test plans; I&C, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering preference; independent and team-oriented work style; experience with A/E firms on complex projects
Location, schedule, and travel
Hanford, Washington; 24/7 on-call emergency response duty (2 weeks per 8-week cycle); 12-hour shifts during outages; engineering duty cycle support with call-out availability required
