About this role

Lead civil and structural design activities for the Xe-100 advanced reactor project at Energy Northwest's brownfield nuclear site in Richland, Washington. This supervisor role combines hands-on engineering expertise with team leadership, overseeing owner's engineer activities, design reviews, and construction support for first-of-a-kind nuclear deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead civil and structural design for major site facilities and nuclear structures
  • Direct foundation engineering, seismic isolation systems, and seismic design for nuclear and balance of plant structures
  • Conduct geotechnical investigations and soil structure interaction analysis
  • Develop building layouts, load paths, and structural configurations
  • Coordinate with licensing, safety analysis, and multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Oversee engineering deliverables from partners and subcontractors
  • Supervise owner's engineer activities and provide construction oversight
  • Participate in design reviews for new reactor technologies
  • Support progressive design/build contracts and construction efforts
  • Interpret and review NRC regulations, NEI, and EPRI documents
  • Manage assigned engineering staff, develop personnel strategies, conduct performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback

Preferred qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain
  • Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license
  • Knowledge of seismic design, geotechnical engineering, and complex foundations
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

Location, schedule, and travel

Richland, Washington; onsite role with owner's engineer and construction site oversight responsibilities.
