Required qualifications

B.S. in engineering or related discipline from an accredited university with 10+ years direct experience, or M.S./Ph.D. with commensurate experience

12+ years in a Quality Assurance function

5+ years as a Manager in nuclear (NRC or DOE) Quality Assurance or in a regulated environment (EPA, aerospace, or similar)

Proven success managing and leading technical QA professionals

Exceptional communication skills to integrate with geographically and organizationally diverse Quality and engineering teams

About this role

Director-level quality and compliance leader for TerraPower's advanced nuclear programs. Oversees implementation and compliance with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1, and ASME Section III quality assurance programs. Builds and manages a technical QA team across engineering, procurement, and operations to ensure nuclear safety culture, regulatory adherence, and continuous improvement across all quality-affecting activities.

Responsibilities

Build and manage a highly effective QA team; identify staffing needs, interview candidates, set yearly goals, conduct mid-year and annual performance reviews, and recommend promotions and transfers

Develop and implement quality requirements aligned with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1, and ASME Section III standards; review and approve quality-affecting procedures (engineering, procurement, document control, records, testing)

Ensure technical documents and designs meet applicable regulatory guides, codes, and standards; verify work conducted in accordance with configuration management and change control plans

Oversee partner and vendor technical work; develop and review statements of work with Procurement; participate in Pre-Job Plan meetings and assign personnel to activities

Lead Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), Continuous Improvement, Lessons Learned/Operating Experience, and Risk Management processes; identify and communicate work process improvements

Coach team members on Nuclear Safety Culture, procedural adherence, and professional development; keep senior management informed of emerging technical issues and regulatory concerns

Facilitate technical interfaces and handoffs between teams; remove roadblocks, break down silos, and promote organizational resilience

Preferred qualifications

QA management experience in NRC 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1, and ASME Section III regulated environments

Experience with industry codes, standards, and guides (ASME, AWS, AISC, ASTM, EPRI, NEI, ISO, NEC, IEEE)

Experience managing projects under high degree of regulatory oversight
