Design Draftsman
About this role
Senior Design Draftsman at Westinghouse creating and maintaining electrical construction drawings for nuclear and power generation projects. You'll produce single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and plan drawings; coordinate with engineering teams; manage cable schedules and vendor documentation; and perform field verification work.
Responsibilities
- —Create and update electrical drawings (single lines, wiring diagrams, plan drawings) for electrical construction packages per corporate standards
- —Work directly with engineering personnel to clarify designer sketches and project intent
- —Maintain supplemental project documentation including cable schedules, vendor cut sheets, and drawing records per corporate and compliance policies
- —Provide general electrical design support for the power generation fleet including equipment, cable/raceway, and drawing number coordination
- —Coordinate site visits and perform field work as necessary to verify designs and resolve construction issues
- —Maintain personal safety and environmental compliance practices
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED; ability to work effectively in a team environment
Desired
Associate degree in Drafting; knowledge of drafting principles; demonstrated MicroStation and/or AutoCAD proficiency; proficiency in drawing and document management systems (ProjectWise and Documentum preferred)
Location
Richmond, VA (local candidates only). Office-based with up to 25% travel and field work. Environmental exposure: dust, grease/oil, cold, heat, fumes, and loud noise (up to 25% each).
