Required qualifications
- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience including law firm experience in commercial contracting, technology, energy sectors, and/or in-house experience
- Strong contract and commercial law experience, including technology transactions
- Experience drafting and negotiating government contracts and grant agreements
- Familiarity with regulatory matters, including export control
- Ability to manage outside counsel effectively and efficiently
- Demonstrated creativity in legal approaches to complex problems balancing business needs and legal risks
- J.D. required with license to practice
About this role
TerraPower seeks a Corporate Counsel to provide legal support on commercial and regulatory matters for advanced nuclear reactor development. You'll report to the Associate General Counsel, draft and negotiate agreements, manage compliance, and collaborate with internal teams and outside counsel across the US and internationally.
Responsibilities
- Provide programmatic support to the legal team and report to the Associate General Counsel
- Draft agreements and conduct routine and non-routine contract review and negotiations for Procurement and Contracts teams
- Provide legal support for government contracts and grants and associated compliance requirements
- Support creation and updates of standard contract templates for TerraPower's business
- Manage external relationships with outside counsel regarding active matters
- Advise on legal, regulatory, and export control issues
- Coordinate with intellectual property team on IP issues
- Conduct legal and other research, creating shareable deliverables
- Participate actively in group meetings to understand short and long-term goals
- Travel domestically as needed

- Experience in the nuclear sector
- Technical background or proven ability and interest in learning new technologies
