Construction Manager
About this role
Construction Manager-Level 2 for a 1-year contract assignment supporting nuclear power plant commissioning projects at FPL's Juno Beach facility. Coordinate construction work, manage contractor performance, oversee safety and quality compliance, and bridge field operations with project leadership.
Responsibilities
- —Coordinate and manage construction work performed by contractors and vendors at the project site
- —Assess productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance
- —Manage walk downs of planned work and validate acceptance of completed work to design requirements
- —Approve contractor payment requests and verify constructability
- —Lead commissioning projects ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety requirements
- —Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to implement commissioning plans
- —Oversee system testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance activities
- —Manage contractor performance and ensure adherence to project timelines
- —Resolve operational and logistical issues during construction and commissioning phases
- —Ensure proper resource allocations and assess field status
- —Manage scope control, budget oversight, performance reporting, and work in progress tracking
- —Provide leadership and coaching to Construction Supervisors and supplemental workforce
- —Survey and observe contractor Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) practices; provide coaching and corrective action as needed
- —Communicate departmental, station, and division goals to team members
Qualifications
Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or related field (or equivalent experience); 6+ years in power plant commissioning; experience working with EPC contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers; strong understanding of engineering principles related to power plant commissioning
