Waste Manager
About this role
Westinghouse Environmental Services UK seeks an early-career professional to join the radioactive waste management team across the UK NDA estate. You will produce technical documentation for waste characterization and treatment strategies, support radiation protection activities, and work with nuclear clients domestically and internationally. A scientific degree or equivalent experience is required; nuclear industry experience is desirable but not essential for this graduate-level role.
Responsibilities
Produce technical documentation for radioactive waste management projects, including waste characterization, DQO assessments, and BAT (Best Available Technique) evaluations
Assess and evaluate radioactive waste treatment methods and processes
Support radiation protection activities within the team
Contribute to client proposals and bid work
Facilitate meetings, workshops, and client interactions; present technical results to stakeholders
Work with nuclear clients across UK and international projects
Develop personal career pathway through structured development activities
Qualifications
1+ years of professional experience
Scientific background (formal degree or equivalent relevant experience)
Excellent mathematical and written communication skills
Strong IT proficiency
Ability to obtain UK security clearance as required by projects
Full UK Driving License
Desired
Prior experience in the nuclear industry
Commitment to building professional contacts and engagement within the nuclear sector
