About this role

Contract Training Instructor (3–4 months) at Westinghouse's Columbia Fuels Fabrication Facility in Hopkins, South Carolina. Deliver instructor-led training on nuclear fuel assembly processes, fuel handling, safety protocols, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance using SAT and ADDIE methodologies. Ensure learners achieve operational readiness in fuel fabrication fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured, engaging classroom-based training on nuclear fuel assembly concepts, handling requirements, and process fundamentals using SAT and ADDIE-developed materials
  • Translate complex technical concepts into accessible, practical instruction appropriate for diverse learners
  • Facilitate discussions, demonstrations, and activities that reinforce learning and operational readiness
  • Prepare for each class by reviewing lesson plans, job aids, visuals, and assessments, including observing/walk-downs of the assembly process
  • Coordinate with instructional designers and subject matter experts to recommend updates to training content and maintain accuracy and relevance
  • Conduct formative and summative assessments to evaluate learner comprehension and performance
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to participants and document learner performance, attendance, and completion records
  • Promote Nuclear Safety Culture principles, Human Performance principles, and regulatory expectations throughout training delivery
  • Ensure training meets industry standards, internal procedures, and applicable regulatory frameworks
  • Manage classroom setup, instructional equipment, and training materials
  • Support audits, accreditation reviews, and training program evaluations

Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Technology, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field; 10+ years of experience in nuclear fuel manufacturing, nuclear operations, reactor services, or similar technical field; demonstrated proficiency with SAT or ADDIE-based training programs; 2–5 years of experience in training, instruction, or technical facilitation; strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Desired

Prior classroom experience delivering technical or nuclear industry training; certification in instructional design or training (e.g., CompTIA CTT+, ATD APTD/CPTD); experience with fuel fabrication, quality control processes, or nuclear safety culture programs; familiarity with regulatory or industry standards (e.g., NRC, INPO, ISO, NQA-1); virtual facilitation experience.

Location

50% hybrid / 50% remote; 20 hours/week remote, 40 hours/week on-site at Hopkins, South Carolina facility.
