About this role
Supervise Radiation Protection Technicians at a Constellation nuclear facility, directing decontamination, instrumentation, and rad waste programs while ensuring ALARA compliance and regulatory adherence. This role manages daily RP operations, personnel exposure control, and interfaces with plant staff and regulators.
Responsibilities
- —Directly supervise and coach Radiation Protection Technicians and Laborers, managing hiring, training, and field oversight
- —Direct implementation of decontamination, instrumentation, planning, scheduling, procedures, training, and rad waste programs
- —Manage day-to-day RP program operations to ensure timely work completion and maintenance of worker exposure As Low as Reasonably Achievable (ALARA)
- —Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and state requirements
- —Monitor and manage plant contaminated square footage and personnel contamination events
- —Communicate company programs, policies, and announcements to assigned employees; gather feedback for management
- —Interface with Plant Staff and regulators on Radiation Protection program implementation
- —Perform emergency response duties, departmental coverage, and support outage activities as directed
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree with 5 years of applied radiation protection experience, OR
- —Current or previous Senior Reactor Operator license with 5 years of applied Radiation Protection experience, OR
- —Associate's degree with 7 years of applied radiation protection experience, OR
- —High school diploma/GED with 9 years of applied Radiation Protection experience
- —Maintain minimum access requirement or unescorted access requirements, and pass favorable medical examination/testing as applicable
Desired
- —Successful completion of the National Registry Radiation Protection Technicians (NRRPT) certification
- —Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science related field (health physics, chemistry, physics, medical physics, etc.)
