About this role
Senior Health Physics Technician at a nuclear power facility responsible for radiological surveillance, contamination assessment, dose evaluation, and instrument calibration. This role progresses from guided tasks under a qualified mentor to independent assignment completion upon achieving full NRC qualifications.
Responsibilities
- —Perform routine and special health physics tasks including plant radiological surveillance and control
- —Conduct radiological surveys and assess airborne and surface contamination and radiation levels
- —Perform dose assessment and instrument calibration
- —Establish and maintain radiological controls for station activities
- —Maintain radiological records and prepare reports
- —Assist in training technicians and other personnel
- —Participate in writing, reviewing, and revising health physics procedures as directed
- —Function as a plant emergency plan team member with 90%+ availability
Qualifications
- —High school diploma or GED
- —Navy ELT (Electronics Technician) training OR non-Navy entry-level health physics equivalent
Desired
- —6+ months health physics experience (minimum preferred)
- —12+ months health physics experience (strongly preferred)
- —18+ months health physics experience (highly preferred)
- —24+ months health physics experience (ideal)
Location
Onsite at Energy Northwest nuclear facility; 90%+ emergency plan team availability required; shift work pattern expected.
