About this role
Supervisor of Radiation Protection at Harris Nuclear Plant. Oversee field radiation protection operations including dosimetry, radiological material shipping, and on-shift staffing. Lead and develop a team while ensuring regulatory compliance, safety culture, and error-free work in a safety-critical nuclear environment.
Responsibilities
- —Supervise and direct subordinates in field operations, dosimetry, radiological material shipping, and on-shift staffing
- —Ensure safety issues are adequately addressed and maintain a safety-conscious work environment
- —Plan, schedule, assign and prioritize work to maintain effectiveness, efficiency and regulatory compliance
- —Verify training requirements are met prior to assigning work and provide oversight of on-the-job training
- —Conduct pre-job and post-job briefings in compliance with established policies and procedures
- —Monitor subordinate work to ensure quality and compliance with established practices, specifications and procedures
- —Provide coaching to improve performance and maintain error-free work environment
- —Interpret requirements and procedures relative to work activities
- —Maintain productive and motivated staff through performance management, individual development plans, and performance appraisals
- —Establish, communicate and reinforce performance standards
- —Coordinate work activities with other organizational units, craft supervision, and other Radiation Protection Supervisors
- —Interface with Radiation Protection Superintendent and Supervising Scientists for work assignments and guidance
- —Stay current on developments and advances in radiation protection and related technical areas
Qualifications
High School/GED diploma; 5+ years related work experience in radiation protection or nuclear field operations
Desired
Technical degree in Science, Engineering, or related field; NRRPT (National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists) certification
Location
Onsite at Harris Nuclear Plant, NC; 5–15% travel required
