Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Seven years of responsible nuclear power plant experience or applicable industrial experience, with a minimum of one year at a nuclear power plant
- Extensive knowledge of Maintenance programs, job requirements, procedures, work activities, and plant systems
- Thorough knowledge of labor agreements and administration requirements
- Thorough knowledge of planning/scheduling requirements, information management systems, and man-hour estimating programs
About this role
Superintendent of Mechanical Maintenance at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, a 2,700 MW dual-unit BWR nuclear facility near Berwick, PA. This role oversees all mechanical maintenance operations, long-range planning, and personnel management for the nuclear power plant, ensuring compliance with NRC regulations, Technical Specifications, and QA procedures.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all work activities in the Mechanical Maintenance Group, ensuring cost-effectiveness, safety compliance, and adherence to Technical Specifications, QA Procedures, and NRC facility licenses
- Participate in planning and scheduling processes, selecting optimal work strategies including contract vs. in-house labor, overtime reduction, shift strategy, crew mix, and technology utilization
- Manage long-range work planning and organizational decisions for the Mechanical Maintenance section, including plant modifications and personnel promotions
- Assign responsibilities to functional area supervisors and manage production and outage efforts
- Administer and control mechanical maintenance operations for plant structures, systems, and components including surveillance, preventative, predictive, planned, and corrective maintenance
- Initiate and implement assigned modifications and procurement documents for materials and services
- Develop and periodically review maintenance section instructions, procedures, and safety compliance programs
- Establish goals, train, develop, and provide performance reviews to subordinates; provide technical and managerial expertise and career guidance
- Support and perform Nuclear Emergency Response Organization duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Maintain residence within 55-minute emergency response time of the facility
Preferred qualifications
- BS in Engineering
- Thorough knowledge of power plant operations including system interactions and impacts
- Competent understanding of Company Policies and Station Procedures
- Working knowledge of Susquehanna Technical Specifications & Requirements
- Demonstrated skill with Union Relations
- Established communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills
