Sourcing Specialist- Birmingham
About this role
Senior Sourcing Specialist for Pooled Inventory Management (PIM) and SAFER emergency response programs serving Southern Nuclear's nuclear utility operations. Responsible for sourcing equipment, materials, and services; administering contracts; and managing supplier relationships for critical nuclear inventory in compliance with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B Quality Assurance requirements.
Responsibilities
- —Provide plant procurement services including sourcing materials, equipment, and services per PIM Rules and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B QA Program requirements
- —Conduct supplier market research and identify qualified sources of supply
- —Prepare and administer Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Quotation (RFQs), and perform bid evaluations
- —Review and analyze competitive bids for accuracy, completeness, contractor background, and pricing
- —Negotiate pricing, terms, conditions, and service agreements with suppliers
- —Coordinate shipment, order follow-up, and expediting activities
- —Support contract renewals, amendments, change orders, and participant-specific agreements in alignment with PIM, SAFER, SMS, and PEICo requirements
- —Establish and maintain productive relationships with critical suppliers and resolve quality, schedule, delivery, and commercial issues
- —Support SAFER emergency response team through training, qualification, and participation in quarterly drills
- —Maintain accurate documentation and records for all procurement activities
Qualifications
- —Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain management, contract administration, or purchasing
- —Demonstrated experience developing and negotiating commercial agreements
- —Experience administering RFQs, RFPs, bid evaluations, and supplier negotiations
- —Experience managing supplier relationships and resolving commercial issues
- —Strong commercial and business acumen; self-motivated with ability to work independently
- —Excellent negotiation, influencing, and project management skills
- —Customer-focused with ability to build and maintain relationships at all organizational levels
Desired
- —Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
- —Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM), or Certified Commercial Contract Manager (CCCM)
- —Nuclear industry experience
