Senior Manager Fleet Central Design- Birmingham
About this role
Senior Manager of Fleet Central Design reporting to the Central Design Engineering Director. Oversees Mechanical/Civil Design, Electrical/I&C Design, Cyber Security Engineering, Procurement Engineering, and Extended Power Uprate across Southern Nuclear's fleet. Serves as Design Authority for design control processes and ensures fleet design requirement technical adequacy.
Responsibilities
- —Provide technical oversight and approval of design products from Central Design Organization, Architect Engineers, and outside engineering resources
- —Support engineering activities for fleet capital design projects, including Seismic Equipment Qualification, Stress Analysis, and Power Systems Analysis
- —Monitor maintenance of plant design basis and configuration management controls; ensure technical adequacy of plant and vendor-provided designs across the fleet
- —Establish and maintain effective design interface controls between organizations performing engineering activities affecting plant design
- —Promote implementation and consistent application of fleet common design processes and own the Setpoint Control Program
- —Monitor and assess Architect Engineering vendor activities to ensure quality product delivery
Qualifications
- —Bachelor of Science in Engineering from ABET-accredited university
- —Minimum 8 years nuclear power experience
- —Previous supervisory experience, preferably in design engineering organization
- —Thorough understanding of nuclear plant systems, processes, and engineering programs
- —Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and strategic direction in complex engineering environments
- —Ability to manage emergent plant needs alongside long-term strategic initiatives
Location
Birmingham, Alabama (Southern Nuclear Corporate Office) or one of Southern Nuclear's operating sites: Farley Nuclear Plant (near Dothan, AL), Hatch Nuclear Plant (near Baxley, GA), or Vogtle Nuclear Plant (near Waynesboro, GA)
