Site Outage Services Manager- Farley
About this role
Lead planning, execution, and oversight of refueling outages at Farley Nuclear Facility (dual-unit Westinghouse PWR). Manage a team of refueling supervisors and technicians as single point of accountability for outage readiness, nuclear safety compliance, and cycle reliability. Serve as subject matter expert for refueling operations across the SNC fleet.
Responsibilities
- —Serve as single point of accountability for planning, execution, close-out, and cycle reliability for Refueling Services
- —Manage and supervise Outage Services Project Manager, Refueling Supervisor, Refueling Technicians, Site DCS Supervisor, and six additional RF Technicians
- —Lead refueling outage planning, manage outage milestones, and determine major scope requirements
- —Lead Refueling High Impact Teams (HIT Teams) and fleet challenge calls/Issue Response Teams (IRT) to resolve nuclear safety issues
- —Ensure gap closure from condition reports, NRSB reports, FASA reports, NRC inspections, and fleet event alerts
- —Coordinate with site and vendors on outage work deliverables, scope, and team objectives
- —Manage equipment reliability for functional area equipment and tooling; pursue cost reductions and maximize value
- —Provide financial accountability and oversight for contracts within the functional area
- —Communicate technical, financial, and work progress status to all levels of corporate and site management
- —Establish governance, oversight, support, and performance (GOSP) standards based on industry best practices and benchmarking
- —Conduct program self-assessments, observations, and evaluations of plant activities
- —Serve as subject matter expert, mentor, and facilitate development of standards and procedures for the SNC fleet
- —Participate in industry-wide groups such as PWROG-Refueling, EPRI, NEI, and alliance owner groups
- —Maintain and execute Refueling Life Cycle Plan; serve as backup to Dry Cask Storage PM during UFLO windows
- —Communicate emerging issues that challenge nuclear safety and successful execution of refueling outage activities
- —Support site improvement initiatives and participate in sister site assessments
- —Participate in Site Emergency Response Organization (ERO) activities
Qualifications
- —8 years of commercial nuclear plant experience
- —Experience working with multiple departments
- —Ability to facilitate meetings and communicate effectively with all organizational levels
- —Proven project implementation experience
- —Thorough understanding of Nuclear NSSS systems and refueling activities at operating nuclear power plants
- —Knowledge of modern scheduling practices and software (Primavera)
Desired
- —Current or former SRO (Senior Reactor Operator) license or certification
- —Technical background in Nuclear Power or Engineering degree
- —Previous experience managing projects and supervising personnel in a commercial nuclear plant
Location
Farley Nuclear Plant, near Dothan, Alabama; some travel required.
