Shop Technician II
About this role
Shop Technician II at Westinghouse Rotating Equipment Services, performing machining, mechanical assembly, equipment repair, and refurbishment of nuclear components at the Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA. Role includes electrical, mechanical, and visual inspections of rotating equipment and electrical systems supporting nuclear operations.
Responsibilities
- —Perform machining, mechanical assembly, equipment repair, and refurbishment of nuclear components and tooling systems
- —Conduct electrical, mechanical, and visual inspections on insulation systems (Stators, Rotors, Heaters) to ensure quality and safety standards
- —Operate electrical test equipment (Megger, DLOR, Fluke, Motor Test Panels) and machine tools (drill press, lathes, milling machines)
- —Disassemble, clean, decontaminate, inspect, install, repair, and assemble mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment
- —Conduct stator winding tests and motor testing independently; perform small machining/balancing work and CMM operations
- —Demonstrate Human Performance Tools, INPO Principles, ALARA principles, and Nuclear Culture Safety requirements; complete site-specific training in radiation safety and hazard communication
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years relevant experience with demonstrated electrical, mechanical, machining, or inspection skills; knowledge of electrical or mechanical drawings and required mathematics; Journeyman papers preferred in electrical (ANSI II - Electrical Winder) or machining (ANSI II - Mechanical Machinist)
Location
On-site, 5 days per week at Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA
