Senior Reactor Operator
About this role
Constellation seeks Initial License Trainees to become NRC-licensed Senior Reactor Operators (SROs) at Calvert Cliffs Generating Station (Lusby, MD). You will complete comprehensive classroom and on-the-job training leading to SRO licensure, then supervise licensed reactor operators and equipment operators in the control room of this two-unit Pressurized Water Reactor facility.
Responsibilities
- —Complete Initial License Training (ILT) including classroom instruction, NRC examinations, and structured on-the-job training with formal evaluation
- —Successfully pass all phases of training and NRC examination to obtain Senior Reactor Operator license
- —Serve as Operations Shift Supervisor, directly supervising licensed reactor operators and equipment operators in the reactor control room
- —Respond to emergency situations, support reactor outages, and perform other operational assignments as directed by management
- —Maintain compliance with NRC regulations, station procedures, and security/access protocols
Qualifications
- —High school diploma or GED
- —One of the following:
- —1+ years of Reactor Operator license at comparable facility (PWR-to-PWR or BWR-to-BWR)
- —1.5+ years of Reactor Operator license at non-comparable facility (PWR-to-BWR or vice versa)
- —1.5+ years as Power Plant Watch Engineer, Engineering Watch Supervisor, or equivalent at military reactor (with 1.5 years post-qualification)
- —4-year degree in engineering, engineering technology, or physical sciences, plus 1.5+ years as qualified non-licensed operator or staff/supervisor in operations, engineering, maintenance, radiation protection, chemistry, or training at comparable facility
- —Current or previous SRO Instructor certification with 4+ years at comparable facility or 6+ years at non-comparable facility
- —Ability to obtain and maintain minimum access or unescorted access clearance
- —Pass medical examination and testing per position requirements
Location
Calvert Cliffs Generating Station, Lusby, Maryland. Shift-based operations (24/7 coverage) with mandated extended hours; overtime compensation at 1.5x base salary.
