Senior Project Engineer
About this role
Lead supplier-facing nuclear projects at Westinghouse, bridging engineering, supply chain, and quality to ensure vendors meet technical, regulatory, and compliance standards. Conduct hands-on oversight of nuclear-related programs and government contracts, including monthly on-site supplier visits, source inspections, and regulatory compliance verification under 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and DOE/NRC frameworks.
Responsibilities
- —Own execution of supplier-driven work scopes—define requirements, timelines, and acceptance criteria; track progress; manage risks; and lead corrective actions
- —Conduct monthly on-site supplier visits to perform technical oversight, verify production readiness, review traveler/route cards, and ensure configuration control
- —Witness periodic in-process and final source inspections; witness critical tests; verify objective evidence; and disposition nonconformances (NCRs)
- —Ensure supplier adherence to contract requirements and applicable DOE/NRC regulations (10 CFR 50 Appendix B)
- —Interpret and flow down FAR/DFARS contract requirements; ensure quality, technical, and deliverable compliance
- —Develop and approve plans, procedures, inspection/test plans, acceptance criteria, and verification matrices; maintain requirements traceability and design records
- —Support causal analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA); ensure closure with evidence
- —Guide communication between customer, partners, and suppliers; ensure communication of technical requirements and compliance expectations
- —Collaborate with engineering, QA, supply chain, legal/contracts, and program management; provide status reporting, risks, and mitigations to leadership
Qualifications
- —5+ years of experience in engineering roles (project, manufacturing, or quality) within nuclear, defense, or regulated industries
- —Experience with supplier quality or supply chain engineering, including audits, inspections, and production oversight
- —Experience with nuclear quality standards (ASME NQA-1) and regulatory frameworks (10 CFR 50 Appendix B or comparable)
- —Maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
- —Willingness to travel monthly for supplier oversight (approximately 25–40%)
