Senior Mechanical Engineer at Westinghouse providing technical leadership in design, analysis, and support of mechanical systems for nuclear power plant operations. Lead engineering evaluations of pumps, valves, heat exchangers, piping, and pressure vessels; ensure regulatory compliance with NRC and ASME standards; mentor junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering evaluations, calculations, and analyses for mechanical systems, components, and equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, piping, pressure vessels)
- Develop, review, and approve design changes, modifications, and engineering documents per plant procedures and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical support for maintenance, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of mechanical system issues
- Prepare and review procurement specifications, engineering change packages, and work instructions
- Interface with regulatory agencies, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff
- Participate in plant walkdowns, system health monitoring, and operability assessments
- Support outage planning, execution, and post-outage reviews for mechanical systems
- Ensure adherence to ASME, NRC, and IEEE codes and standards and plant licensing basis
Preferred qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification
- Experience with equipment qualification, environmental and seismic analysis, and aging management programs
- Power plant experience
- Familiarity with nuclear plant licensing, modification processes, and configuration management
- Proficiency with engineering software tools (ANSYS, AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
