Required qualifications
Four-year Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (Materials Science/Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, or Structural) from an ABET accredited, IEA recognized, or ABET MRA approved institution. For Engineer II: Two years of working experience in engineering-related positions.
About this role
Arizona Public Service seeks a Reliability Engineer I or II to support cooling water systems and balance-of-plant mechanical equipment critical to safe nuclear power plant operations. You will monitor equipment performance, diagnose and resolve system issues, support scheduled and forced outages, and drive long-term reliability improvements across cooling, water treatment, and auxiliary systems.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and support the health and performance of cooling water systems and other mechanical plant equipment
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving equipment and system issues to support safe, reliable operations
- Provide engineering support during planned and forced outages
- Support maintenance strategies, equipment assessments, and long-term reliability initiatives
- Participate in evaluating plant modifications, technical documents, and equipment upgrades
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, environmental, and engineering teams to implement solutions
- Maintain engineering reports, equipment records, and reliability data
- Analyze and prepare technical reviews, trend analyses, and technology assessments
- Prepare engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, and documentation
- Provide technical and field support; identify deficiencies and troubleshoot issues
- Perform periodic testing and analysis of system data to minimize failures
Preferred qualifications
Knowledge and ability to apply basic engineering principles, practices, and theories; problem analysis and resolution techniques; knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods, and safety standards in engineering discipline; experience or education in mechanical systems, power generation, or industrial facilities; hands-on problem-solving skills and ability to work in field and office environments; strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities; passion for reliability, plant operations, and continuous improvement.
Location, schedule, and travel
Arizona; on-site with field and office work required.
