About this role
Constellation (a major US nuclear energy operator) seeks a Project Financial Analyst to manage project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking across its nuclear and energy portfolio. This role ensures accurate financial control of capital and operational projects through checkbook development, variance analysis, and real-time expenditure monitoring.
Responsibilities
- —Prepare and maintain project checkbooks reflecting monthly/yearly budgets, forecasts, and actual expenditures with input from project managers
- —Process approved Project Change Requests (PCRs) to update budgets in the project checkbook tool monthly
- —Review and analyze assigned checkbooks to identify missing or incomplete project data, including authorization history, milestone dates, contract numbers, and risk/opportunity sheets
- —Perform detailed analysis of real-time monthly project expenditures to ensure proper cost coding and identify fiscal discrepancies
- —Assist project managers in resolving discrepancies through vendor and departmental communications
- —Develop project risks and opportunities forecasts as part of budget planning
- —Support project managers in preparing PCR and Nuclear Strategic Authorization Committee (NSAC) financial presentations, monthly reports, and Chief Nuclear Officer reviews
- —Provide financial guidance to project managers on Constellation accounting practices
- —Coordinate review of project post-implementation appraisals (PIAs), compile results, and communicate findings annually to project management teams
- —Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects including focused area assessments, benchmarking studies, and procedure development
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience, OR Associate's degree and 7 years of related experience, OR High school diploma/GED and 9 years of related experience
- —Experience in financial budgeting, cost analysis, or project estimating in a related industry
- —PMP Certification required within 18 months of starting position
- —Maintain minimum access requirements or unescorted access as applicable
- —Favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties
