Project Director AP1000 Delivery
About this role
Lead the delivery of an AP1000 nuclear reactor project across North America as Project Director, commanding a team that peaks at 500+ employees. Manage all aspects of project execution including licensing, engineering, supply chain, and client interface while reporting to the Senior Vice President of APX Project North America.
Responsibilities
- —Lead 500+ full-time delivery personnel executing AP1000 development activities including licensing, engineering, and supply chain management
- —Manage client interface, progress reporting, and coordination between Westinghouse, constructor, project manager, and other client-provided parties
- —Develop and negotiate contracts with Commercial Group to ensure effective delivery and commercial implementation
- —Execute negotiated contracts and manage scope, schedule, and changes
- —Manage overall project performance including scope, cost, and schedule compliance
- —Lead project supply chain development while meeting localization requirements and ensuring supplier quality and contractual compliance
- —Coordinate with functional leadership to secure required expertise and staffing within agreed schedules
- —Develop and implement project-specific management processes to support execution efficiency and compliance
Qualifications
- —BS degree in engineering, construction management, or project management
- —20 years of experience in large engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project management including construction/construction management
- —Ability to relocate to project location and support extensive travel
Desired
- —Master's degree in project management or business administration
- —Nuclear reactor operational experience
- —Development and nuclear power plant project experience
- —Consortium leadership experience between engineering/procurement firm and constructor in joint venture or non-incorporated settings
- —PMP and/or PgMP certification or Professional Engineer license
- —High-level proficiency in mega-project management tools, processes, and systems
- —Experience managing multi-billion dollar complex EPC mega-projects
- —Experience tendering for and negotiating multi-billion dollar EPC contracts
- —Broad experience with delivery model implementation across direct project hire, hard matrix, and soft matrix organizational structures
- —Extensive nuclear project safety culture, human performance improvement, and quality management system implementation experience
- —Experience executing projects across fixed price and cost reimbursable/time and materials contract types
- —Ability to establish effective networks across functional areas including finance, strategy, engineering, licensing, procurement, and governmental agencies
- —Experience in new nuclear projects and first-of-a-kind new build nuclear environments
Location
Hybrid role with relocation to project location required; extensive travel expected.
