Project Controls Analyst- Birmingham
About this role
Support Southern Nuclear's Project Management Office by developing executive dashboards, reports, and KPIs that consolidate data across project controls, finance, schedule, and portfolio systems. Enable leadership decision-making across the nuclear energy portfolio through business intelligence and project performance analytics.
Responsibilities
- —Develop, maintain, and publish project performance reports, executive dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, and portfolio analytics
- —Analyze cost, schedule, forecast, resource, risk, and project performance data to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities
- —Support portfolio-level reporting and data visualization for PMO leadership and project stakeholders
- —Use Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, and related tools to improve reporting efficiency and data quality
- —Support standardization of PMO reporting methods, metrics, and dashboards across the nuclear portfolio
- —Translate project controls, finance, schedule, and cost data into clear business insights for leadership
- —Support finance and cost management system reporting, including dashboards, data validation, and system analytics
- —Partner with PMO, Project Controls, Finance, and Project Managers to ensure reporting accuracy and timeliness
- —Identify opportunities to automate recurring reports and enhance reporting processes
- —Support continuous improvement of PMO reporting and portfolio performance management
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, information systems, finance, data analytics, project management, or related field
- —Experience with project performance reporting, business intelligence, analytics, or data management
- —Experience developing dashboards, reports, scorecards, and KPIs from multiple data sources
- —Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Excel
Desired
- —Advanced degree
- —Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, automation tools, or similar technologies
- —Experience supporting project management, project controls, financial management, or portfolio reporting
- —Experience in utility, engineering, construction, capital project, or nuclear environments
- —Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- —Understanding of business intelligence, project controls, portfolio analytics, and project performance reporting
- —Ability to translate complex project data into clear, actionable insights for leadership
- —Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Location
Birmingham, Alabama; up to 10% travel to Southern Nuclear and Southern Company locations required
