Principal Quality Engineer
About this role
Principal Quality Engineer at Westinghouse Columbia, SC facility overseeing quality assurance for nuclear power plant components and modifications. Ensure compliance with NRC regulations, customer requirements, and industry standards (ISO, ASME NQA-1, IEEE) for primary and secondary loop structures, systems, and components.
Responsibilities
- —Develop and recommend technical solutions for inspection and compliance following customer requirements, applicable standards, and NRC regulations
- —Review design engineering documentation to verify compliance with technical QA requirements for nuclear power plant primary and secondary loop structures, systems, and components
- —Recommend and influence operations to take corrective actions, resolve quality issues, and implement performance improvements
- —Assess supplier performance through audits, surveillances, and commercial grade surveys to ensure cost/value optimization
- —Serve as quality liaison/coordinator for third-party inquiries including NRC, customers, licensees, ASME, and ISO
- —Refine processes through development of automated systems to improve productivity and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- —5+ years of experience in quality assurance or compliance
- —Knowledge of national consensus standards including ISO, ASME NQA-1 Supplements and Appendices, IEEE Standards, and NRC Regulatory Guide series
- —Working knowledge of data collection and analysis tools such as Minitab, R, or Python
- —General knowledge of major non-destructive testing (NDT) disciplines and their relationship to materials and structures
- —Experience with dimensional inspection and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- —Experience in a manufacturing environment
