Principal Quality Assurance Specialist
About this role
Principal Quality Assurance Specialist supporting Westinghouse's APX (advanced nuclear reactor) projects. Establish and maintain the Quality Management System at project level, oversee quality compliance, and serve as quality consultant to engineering, licensing, and procurement teams. Responsibilities include QMS implementation, project training oversight, compliance monitoring, quality audits and surveillances, corrective/preventive actions, regulatory interface, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- —Support implementation of Westinghouse Quality Management System, project quality plans, and procedures for APX projects
- —Establish and oversee project team training requirements related to project requirements and implementing procedures
- —Maintain compliance with Westinghouse QMS for project execution
- —Perform quality oversight of specified activities including targeted surveillances, audits, self-assessments, and design reviews
- —Recommend and implement solutions to quality problems through corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- —Ensure effective change management and clear communication with quality organizations, leadership, regulatory agencies, customers, and suppliers
- —Represent and support APX program in external customer and regulatory quality audits and inspections
- —Monitor quality metrics, conduct data analysis, and prepare reports related to quality performance
- —Work with intercompany quality organizations to support audits, ensure compliance, and share best practices and lessons learned
- —Promote healthy nuclear safety culture and safety-conscious work environment
- —Promote continuous improvement through identification and implementation of quality assurance best practices
- —Support interfaces with other quality organizations including ASME Section III Quality, Supplier Quality, and Global Quality
Qualifications
- —BS degree or equivalent in engineering or technical field
- —Minimum 5+ years of quality assurance experience
- —Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (typically 10%)
Desired
- —Nuclear programs experience such as NQA-1, ASME Section III, or ISO 19443
- —ISO 9001 and ISO 19443 certification
- —10 CFR 50 Appendix B knowledge
- —ASME NQA-1 and ASME Section III B&PV Code experience
- —Knowledge of other international quality and nuclear regulations, codes, and standards
- —Engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and testing work process experience
- —Auditing skills
Location
Hybrid at Cranberry Township, PA; 10% domestic and international travel
