About this role
Maintenance Engineering Apprentice (Master's level) position within Westinghouse's Pump & Motor Methods Department in Nivelles, Belgium. You will lead the design and deployment of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for critical nuclear facility equipment while supporting preventive and corrective maintenance activities in an active nuclear industrial environment. This is a blended apprenticeship combining on-site nuclear maintenance work with academic study.
Responsibilities
- —Lead design, structuring, and deployment of a CMMS for Pump & Motor workshop equipment; identify and prioritize critical equipment and develop comprehensive technical data sheets
- —Structure spare parts management including references, criticality levels, and inventory management; define and justify preventive maintenance frequencies using manufacturer recommendations, historical data, FMEA analyses, and reliability studies
- —Develop automated maintenance reminder systems and configure maintenance data within the CMMS; participate in preventive and corrective maintenance activities and provide technical support to field maintenance teams
- —Analyze equipment failures and recommend sustainable corrective actions; contribute to equipment reliability improvement initiatives using FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, and reliability-centered maintenance approaches
- —Support standardization of maintenance practices and improve technical data quality; integrate safety requirements into maintenance plans and participate in risk assessments
- —Monitor external contractor interventions and capture technical feedback including failure modes, replaced components, and lessons learned; support the Methods Department on various engineering and maintenance projects
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Maintenance Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline. Previous technical qualification (Bachelor's degree, Associate degree, or equivalent) in Maintenance, Electromechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field. Strong mechanical and electromechanical knowledge. Hands-on maintenance experience (essential). Good command of Microsoft Excel and data management tools.
Desired
Interest or experience with CMMS systems. Knowledge of or interest in FMEA, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Lean methodologies, or Root Cause Analysis.
Location
Nivelles, Belgium. Mixed environment combining workshop/field activities in nuclear facility with office-based engineering work. Alternating schedule: one week on-site at nuclear facility, one week in academic training. Contract duration: Mid-September 2026 to Mid-June 2027. Medical examinations and radiation monitoring required.
