Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 3–5 years relevant IT experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Strong analytical thinking and ability to simplify complex cybersecurity challenges. Disciplined documentation practices. Experience with SIEM tuning and SIEM system management. Knowledge of 10 CFR 73.54 nuclear cybersecurity regulations.
About this role
Energy Northwest seeks a Cyber Security Analyst to optimize and manage SIEM implementation across a highly segmented nuclear plant network. This role focuses on analytical review, alerting refinement, and strategic platform health—supporting 10 CFR 73.54 compliance and broader cybersecurity program execution with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement security controls for digital computer and communication systems
- Conduct vulnerability assessments to identify security weaknesses and recommend mitigation measures
- Evaluate SIEM monitoring capabilities, identify meaningful signals, and refine alerting logic to surface only high-value, actionable alerts
- Manage SIEM platform health through maintenance planning, upgrades, and resilience improvements
- Monitor and analyze network traffic in SCADA environments to detect and respond to cyber threats
- Explore and implement automation opportunities and integrate SIEM output into enterprise ticketing systems
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to cybersecurity policies, procedures, and incident response plans
- Conduct activity oversight and documentation reviews to ensure adherence to site procedures and regulatory requirements
- Lead program change impacts, self-assessments, audits, and training with impacted organizations
- Participate on Emergency Response team (ERO) and support plant cybersecurity on-call rotation when designated
Preferred qualifications
Experience in regulated operational environments. Familiarity with SCADA systems. Background in incident response and forensic analysis. Experience integrating security systems with enterprise ticketing platforms.
