About this role
Kairos Power is hiring Operators to support plant operations of fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactors—a next-generation nuclear technology. You'll manage assigned equipment and systems with focus on safety, reliability, and optimal performance while collaborating with shift teams to resolve operational challenges and support commissioning and startup activities.
Responsibilities
- —Operate and monitor process equipment, control systems, and process conditions to maintain facility performance goals
- —Execute scheduled operational tasks and respond to unplanned events within team capabilities
- —Conduct shift relief with clear communication and handoff procedures
- —Maintain qualification in assigned areas and complete training/skills development
- —Mentor new and existing operations personnel on process operation and troubleshooting
- —Initiate investigations and participate in root cause analysis for operational events
- —Commission, startup, monitor, and shutdown mechanical and electrical equipment
- —Prepare, review, and execute system and component level commissioning and operating procedures
- —Perform acceptance testing (hydrostatic, pneumatic, I/O checks, electrical calibrations)
- —Perform chemistry sampling and analysis using standardized procedures and instruments
- —Execute minor maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance
- —Perform Lockout-Tagout and hazardous operations per standard procedures
- —Track KPIs to optimize operations and identify improvements
- —Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate appropriately
Qualifications
- —Associate degree in Process Technology or related field, OR 2+ years as a plant operator/technician
- —Ability to understand, follow, and create technical procedures
- —Cross-training capability and willingness to learn different processes
- —Ability and willingness to work with hazardous materials in PPE (SCBA, full-face respirator, Tyvek suit)
- —Proficiency reading P&IDs and mechanical/electrical drawings
- —Familiarity with basic hand tools
- —Computer skills: spreadsheet use, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- —Effective communication and collaborative teamwork abilities
- —Quick problem-solving skills
- —Commitment to safety and EH&S compliance
- —Proactive knowledge collection, management, and transfer
- —Ability to identify novel solutions and create efficiencies
Desired
- —Mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, chemical, power plant, or military background
- —Hands-on experience with plant equipment and operations
- —Experience with Instrumentation and Controls systems
Location
Shift-based work involving ascending/descending ladders and scaffolding, working in confined spaces, and setting up temporary structures. Physical demands include positioning oneself in various environments.
