About this role
TerraPower seeks an Operations Training Instructor to develop and manage operator training programs for the Natrium Demonstration Project. You'll design training curricula, procedures, and materials for licensed and non-licensed operators while ensuring compliance with NRC regulations and INPO accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
- —Develop operator training processes, programs, and procedures ensuring compliance with NRC regulations, INPO accreditation criteria, and applicable codes and standards
- —Execute strategy for training program initial accreditation and maintain instructional accuracy based on plant design changes and procedure modifications
- —Use Systematic-Approach-to-Training (SAT) methodology to develop high-quality training curriculum for licensed and non-licensed operators
- —Participate actively in the Training Curriculum Review Committee and coordinate with operations management, emergency response organization, and external organizations
- —Prepare trainee examination materials and evaluations for classroom, laboratory, OJT, and simulator environments
- —Develop processes for training performance evaluations, trainee counseling sessions, and individualized training programs
- —Incorporate information from INPO Significant Operating Experience Reports, NRC Circulars and Bulletins, plant design changes, and training effectiveness reports into program materials
- —Participate in NRC, INPO, and management audits; prepare responses to audit findings
- —Develop and maintain knowledge of plant design, operations, disciplinary skills and techniques
- —Supervise collection and maintenance of auditable training records and reports documenting program activities
- —Assist Operations Training Manager in establishing department goals, cost estimates, and budgeted activities
Qualifications
- —Associate's degree in science or engineering
- —4 years of commercial nuclear power plant operator training experience
- —2 years of experience as a simulator instructor
- —Current SRO/RO license or 4+ years of SRO-certification experience
- —Mastery of skills and extensive subject matter knowledge in analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of licensed operator training programs
- —Working knowledge of plant simulation software
- —Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- —Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills
- —Attention to detail and commitment to training excellence
- —High degree of trust, integrity, and ability to communicate openly and foster teamwork
- —Ability to adapt to emergent changes in plant design, procedures, schedule, and construction/commissioning challenges
