Required qualifications
- Minimum 12 years of design/project management experience on large utility-grade nuclear industry projects
- Minimum 5 years of proven leadership experience
- Physical or Cyber Security design development, I&C security maintenance, or integrator experience (mandatory)
- Familiarity with Nuclear Cyber and Physical Security related industrial codes, standards, and regulations (10CFR73.54, 10CFR73.55, NEI 08-09, NEI 13-10, NEI 03-01, NEI 11-08)
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently to solve challenging problems and provide timely recommendations

About this role
TerraPower seeks a Nuclear Security Systems Resident Engineer to provide in-person oversight and support for nuclear cyber and physical security systems design at the Natrium advanced reactor plant. You'll coordinate scope, schedule, and technical integration across cross-functional teams while serving as the direct conduit between TerraPower and security vendors, ensuring compliance with NRC security regulations and design standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous vendor oversight of Nuclear Security design scope for the Natrium plant
- Function as direct communication conduit to facilitate progression of design activities
- Support plant design oversight team by facilitating communication between TerraPower and partner stakeholders
- Support security vendor project management by resolving/clarifying scope and schedule issues
- Coordinate alignment between security vendor and TerraPower on technical issues, procedures, and cyber/physical security plan implementation
- Oversee Natrium Security Systems vendor including budgeting, staffing, planning, and monitoring design development progress
- Review security system design work documents covering design, integration, and implementation of software and system design documents
- Identify critical high-risk areas and initiate proactive measures to prevent project delays
- Provide weekly summary reports to senior management on critical task progress, potential delays, and resource needs
- Interface with and manage subcontractors, vendors, and partners, providing direction and assimilating their work
- Travel to TerraPower's Bellevue, WA office to meet with Natrium managers and key stakeholders
Preferred qualifications
- Experience configuring and managing Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) appliances
- Experience with database structures for installing and integrating security systems
Location, schedule, and travel
Based in Carrollton, Texas with regular travel to Bellevue, Washington; relocation to Carrollton preferred for continuous in-person collaboration.
