Nuclear Reactor Operator
About this role
Senior Nuclear Operator (SNO) at Fitzpatrick Nuclear Station (Constellation Energy), Oswego, NY. Direct and coordinate lower-grade operators and oversee all aspects of nuclear power plant operations including the Nuclear Steam Supply System, Turbine Generator, auxiliary equipment, and 345KV/115KV switchyards across startup, shutdown, refueling, and emergency conditions.
Responsibilities
- —Direct and coordinate the work of lower-grade Nuclear Operators on shift
- —Ensure proper operation of all Nuclear Power Plant equipment within Technical Specifications, Operating Procedures, and Special Procedures
- —Coordinate activities of personnel working in plant facilities
- —Assume duties and responsibilities of Nuclear Control Operator when conditions dictate, including core alterations, fuel movement, and emergency response
- —Monitor operations across the Nuclear Steam Supply System, Turbine Generator, auxiliary equipment, and 345KV and 115KV switchyards
- —Maintain current knowledge of technological advances relevant to the Senior Nuclear Operator position through reading and study
- —Assist in training other employees
Qualifications
- —Current NRC Reactor Operator License
- —Minimum two years operating experience in a thermal power plant
- —Minimum one year experience as a Nuclear Control Operator (NCO) or equivalent
- —Ability to qualify as a Radiation Protection Self Monitor
- —Ability to direct the work of other employees
Location
Fitzpatrick Nuclear Station, Oswego, NY; shift-based operations; may be present anywhere within the nuclear plant or switchyards as conditions dictate.
