Nuclear Fleet Perform Improvement Consult - Engineering
About this role
Nuclear Fleet Performance Improvement Consultant supporting Dominion Energy's four nuclear power stations (Glen Allen VA, Jenkinsville SC, Mineral VA, Surry VA, Waterford CT). Systematically evaluate engineering department performance, identify improvement opportunities, and lead process changes that enhance site reliability and operational efficiency through coaching, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven analysis.
Responsibilities
- —Visit each power station frequently to assess performance and operational practices
- —Participate in department self-evaluation meetings and conduct performance deep dives
- —Observe and evaluate department performance in plant operations and training environments
- —Collect, review, and analyze performance-related data to identify trends and gaps
- —Formulate recommendations to better integrate site operations with engineering processes, procedures, protocols, and policies
- —Build and implement project plans aligned with specific operational changes
- —Coach and consult engineering leaders on performance improvement and professional development
- —Maintain frequent communication with Peer Group, station leaders, and corporate executives to establish fleet-wide actions and priorities
- —Establish and nurture trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders through clear, compelling communication
Qualifications
- —Seven (7) or more years of direct work experience in engineering activities at a nuclear power station
- —Demonstrated expertise with nuclear industry processes and procedures, particularly engineering-related functions
- —Proven ability to lead from a position of support and influence
- —Proven ability to partner effectively with all levels of the organization
- —Prior experience working with Peer Group Governance structure
- —Strong organizational and project management skills
- —Effective verbal, presentation, and writing skills
- —Demonstrated success in influencing changes and process improvements
- —Proven ability to review, analyze, and compile complex technical information and develop recommendations for management
Desired
- —Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or Associate's degree in engineering field plus 9+ years experience, or High School diploma/GED plus 11+ years experience)
- —INPO Evaluator experience
- —Direct experience executing long-term quality improvement projects
- —Prior nuclear work experience aligned with fleet-wide scope
- —SRO License held or previously held
- —Military service background (E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6 ranks considered)
Location
Multiple locations: Glen Allen VA, Jenkinsville SC, Mineral VA, Surry VA, Waterford CT. Office work 51–75%, loud noise exposure up to 25%, operating machinery 26–50%, travel 26–50%.
