Nuclear Equipment Operator

High school Diploma or GED. AND one of the following: 2+ years of non-generating nuclear power facility experience (e.g., Navy Nuclear training/experience or DOE facility experience) OR Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related science program OR 43+ credit hours of post-secondary education with at least 75% (minimum 8 courses or 32 credit hours) in advanced math, physics, chemistry and related subjects.

Entry-level non-licensed Nuclear Equipment Operator at Constellation Energy, the nation's largest clean energy producer. This is a hands-on control room role with a structured 1-year training pathway leading to NRC Reactor Operator (RO) and Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) licensure. You will monitor and operate reactor systems, auxiliary equipment, and turbine-generator systems on a licensed nuclear facility, with shift work beginning March 2027.

Monitor, control and operate nuclear station equipment in the control room, including reactor and auxiliary systems. Start, stop, control and monitor nuclear reactor, steam turbine, main generator and auxiliary turbine systems to maintain maximum station capability. Start, stop, adjust, test and operate pumps, valves, switchgear and other system components as directed. Monitor recorders and indicators for nuclear and turbine-generator systems; perform calculations to ensure operation within prescribed limits. Respond to plant indicators and alarms per procedure; identify emergency conditions and initiate designated actions. Perform shift turnovers and log maintenance per administrative and NRC license requirements. Respond to and mitigate plant transients; maintain familiarity with emergency operating procedures. Participate in station fire brigade duties. Assist shift supervision in coordinating station operations personnel. Identify and correct deficient conditions through the Corrective Action program and initiate action/procedure change requests. Implement tagging and system out-of-service requests; direct valve realignment and breaker operations. During reactor refueling, manipulate controls and observe nuclear and radiation monitoring instruments per procedural controls. Operate station communications equipment as required.

Rotating day and night shifts; mandatory shift work. Class starts March 2027. Starting salary: $48.51/hour.
