Mechanical Nuclear Instructor
About this role
Nuclear Technical Instructor at Callaway Energy Center (Ameren). Develops, administers, and maintains training programs supporting nuclear operator qualification and National Academy for Nuclear Training (NANT) accreditation. Delivers classroom, laboratory, and simulator instruction; ensures compliance with NRC and industry standards for nuclear technical training.
Responsibilities
- —Administer formal classroom training including classroom, laboratory, and simulator instruction
- —Prepare, administer, and grade examinations and evaluate trainee performance
- —Schedule and coordinate training course presentations with appropriate department personnel
- —Support implementation of Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) that meets or exceeds industry standards
- —Support subject matter experts and vendors providing on-site and off-site training within the discipline area
- —Monitor Condition Reports and industry trends for potential areas of weakness and incorporate into lesson plans
- —Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all training conducted in accordance with applicable procedures
- —Actively participate in training programs to maintain individual qualifications
- —Participate in in-plant activities and field time to maintain required licenses, certifications, and technical proficiency
- —Provide refueling outage support for preparations, in-processing training, and assigned outage positions
- —Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties in accordance with the Radiological Emergency Response Plan
- —Provide peer reviews and feedback to colleagues
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- —Two (2) or more years of relevant professional or journey level experience in engineering, maintenance (mechanical, electrical, or I&C), radiation/chemistry, or technical instruction
- —Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- —Ability to supervise and motivate personnel
- —Dependability and good human relations characteristics
- —Permanent residence within sixty highway miles of Callaway Energy Center
- —Pass security screening for facility access
Desired
- —Previous training instructor experience in a National Academy for Nuclear Training accredited program
- —Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- —Basic understanding of Computer Based Training
- —Basic knowledge of Learning Management Systems
Location
Callaway Energy Center, mid-Missouri. Standard day shift in office/plant environment; callouts and rotating/outage schedules may be required. Permanent residence required within sixty highway miles of facility.
