Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- 3–6 years of mechanical engineering design experience
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering design codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, ANSI, ASHRAE, HEI)
- Understanding of how other disciplines' drawings (Electrical, Civil, Structural) impact design
- Ability to maintain unescorted access to power plants
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
About this role
Mechanical Engineer II supporting Westinghouse's power plant engineering solutions. You will be an individual contributor and subject matter expert applying established standards and knowledge in thermal-fluid systems, equipment design, and power plant engineering. Primary focus: procurement, implementation, and long-term operational support of existing power plants including legacy Westinghouse reactor designs.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering tasks for procurement and implementation to maintain long-term operations of existing power plants including legacy Westinghouse designs
- Design thermal-fluid systems, perform equipment sizing and specification, develop procurement packages, incorporate supplier data, and coordinate integrated engineering
- Conduct engineering design development, site walkdowns, interpret design drawings, manage design changes, and respond to support requests
- Collect and compile data for design development, technical summaries, and project reports
- Assist with proposals, labor and material estimates, and design packages
Preferred qualifications
- Working towards or willing to pursue EIT/FE certification
- Ability to travel
Location, schedule, and travel
Hybrid (2 days/week on-site) at Rock Hill, SC or Cranberry Township, PA. No relocation assistance provided.
