Mechanical Engineer II
About this role
Support nuclear power plant construction projects as a Mechanical Engineer II at Westinghouse. You'll perform engineering analysis, design reviews, and field support for fluid systems, P&IDs, and mechanical specifications. This role provides hands-on experience with nuclear codes and standards while working toward your PE license.
Responsibilities
- —Perform engineering analysis and design reviews in support of nuclear power plant construction, including fluid system walkthroughs and P&ID reviews
- —Execute design changes, respond to engineering support requests, and prepare detailed engineering reports
- —Collect and interpret field data, develop project design basis, and compile data for project reports
- —Ensure conformance to applicable nuclear engineering codes, standards (ASME III, B31.1), and company procedures
- —Assist with proposal efforts, labor/material estimates, and design package preparation for clients
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience; ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to controlled construction areas and nuclear power plants.
Desired
Familiarity with mechanical design and procurement processes; knowledge of mechanical standards (ASTM, ANSI, HEI) and nuclear codes (ASME III, B31.1); understanding of interdisciplinary drawings (electrical, civil, structural); willingness to travel for short-term assignments (2 days to 6 months); working toward or commitment to obtaining a professional engineering license (PE).
Location
Onsite at nuclear power plant construction sites; travel required for short-term assignments ranging from 2 days to 6 months; relocation not provided.
