Materials Engineer supporting Westinghouse's advanced fuel and materials development, focusing on Cr-coated cladding and nuclear materials characterization. Lead technical guidance, hands-on testing programs, and collaborative development with national laboratories and universities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and collaborate with national laboratories, universities, and industry groups on advanced materials development
  • Apply engineering problem-solving and conduct literature reviews within materials discipline
  • Support hands-on material testing programs including mechanical testing, autoclave corrosion testing, creep testing, high-temperature oxidation, and materials/chemical characterization
  • Develop new capabilities and methodologies in the laboratory for materials characterization
  • Oversee and provide training to technician and engineering personnel
  • Analyze and provide test data for supporting new fuel materials for NRC licensing submittals

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with computation and data analysis software (SolidWorks, Inventor, ThermoCalc, Python, MATLAB, Excel with complex functions)
