Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, physics, or related field. 5+ years post-education experience in technology scouting, product development, innovation management, engineering strategy, or technology commercialization in energy or adjacent sectors. Knowledge of latest technologies and applications in nuclear energy.
About this role
Identify and translate emerging technologies into strategic opportunities for Westinghouse's nuclear innovation portfolio. Bridge external innovation ecosystems (startups, universities, national labs, tech accelerators) with internal engineering and R&D teams to drive near-term growth and disruptive long-term positioning in nuclear energy.
Responsibilities
- Scout global technology trends, innovation ecosystems, and competitor activities; assess emerging technologies, startups, academic research, and industry developments for nuclear energy relevance
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with external partners including startups, universities, national laboratories, and technology accelerators
- Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and digital teams to identify customer needs, technology gaps, and strategic roadmap opportunities
- Identify and secure external funding (government grants, private capital) to accelerate technology maturation and commercialization
- Develop business cases including financial modeling, valuation, ROI analysis, and investment recommendations for make-vs-buy, partnership, and acquisition pathways
- Deliver structured recommendations to leadership via memos, business opportunity assessments, and investment proposals
Preferred qualifications
Advanced degree or research background in nuclear-related field.
