Required qualifications

  • 2+ years of commercial nuclear power plant experience in a maintenance or technical discipline (or 4+ years of military nuclear experience, or equivalent combination with relevant academic degrees)
  • Mastery of analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and modification of M&T training programs
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Meets qualification requirements per ANSI/ANS 3.1
  • Understanding of how individual actions affect organizational ability to meet regulatory and public requirements
  • Ability to adapt to emergent changes due to plant design updates, procedure revisions, and schedule changes associated with new nuclear power plant design, construction, and commissioning

About this role

TerraPower seeks a Maintenance & Technical Training Instructor (Mechanical) to develop and execute M&T training programs and materials for the Natrium Demonstration Project. This role focuses on creating NRC-compliant, high-quality training curriculum using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) methodology while coordinating with internal departments, project partners, regulators, and outside organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Maintenance & Technical (M&T) training processes, programs, and procedures ensuring compliance with company standards, NRC regulations, INPO accreditation criteria, and applicable codes and standards
  • Use Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) methodology to develop high-quality training curriculum for maintenance and technical personnel
  • Develop and execute strategy for training program initial accreditation
  • Revise training programs to maintain instructional and technical accuracy based on plant design changes, procedure modifications, and process updates
  • Prepare trainee examination materials and evaluations for classroom, laboratory, OJT, and simulator environments
  • Develop processes for training performance evaluations, trainee counseling sessions, and individualized training programs
  • Incorporate information from INPO Significant Operating Experience Reports, NRC Circulars, Bulletins, and Information Notices into training programs
  • Participate in Training Curriculum Review Committee and NRC/INPO audits; prepare audit responses
  • Supervise collection and maintenance of auditable training records and reports documenting training program activities
