Required qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of commercial nuclear power plant experience or equivalent experience in a regulated, high-hazard environment
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training and support accredited programs under direction of qualified program owners
  • Experience or qualification as a NANTeL proctor, or ability to obtain qualification within a defined period
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills
  • High level of attention to detail, flexibility, and commitment to training quality
  • Demonstrated trust, integrity, and professionalism with ability to communicate openly and work effectively across organizations
  • Understanding of how training execution and individual actions impact regulatory compliance, public confidence, and nuclear safety culture
  • Ability to adapt to evolving plant conditions, changing procedures, schedule impacts, and challenges of a first-of-a-kind nuclear project
  • Must meet qualification requirements in accordance with ANSI/ANS 3.1

About this role

TerraPower seeks a General Plant Instructor to develop and deliver plant-wide training programs for the Natrium Demonstration Project, a first-of-a-kind fast reactor facility. You'll support both accredited and non-accredited training using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT), serve as a NANTeL proctor, ensure training materials align with regulatory requirements and operational changes, and coordinate across Operations, Maintenance, Security, Radiological Protection, EHS, QA, and Engineering to reflect current plant configuration and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and deliver plant-wide training programs and materials aligned with company policies, regulatory requirements, and approved training standards
  • Apply the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) to support accredited and non-accredited training activities
  • Develop and deliver general plant training including site access, orientation, industrial safety, and plant fundamentals
  • Serve as a qualified NANTeL proctor, administering online training and examinations per NANTeL and site requirements
  • Support accredited training programs by delivering approved content, administering examinations, supporting OJT documentation, and updating materials under direction of lead instructors or program owners
  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Security, RP, EHS, QA, and Engineering to ensure training reflects current plant configuration, procedures, and expectations
  • Revise training materials to maintain accuracy based on plant design changes, procedure revisions, regulatory updates, and operating experience
  • Prepare and administer written exams, performance evaluations, and practical demonstrations as appropriate
  • Support training effectiveness evaluations, continuous improvement activities, and corrective actions
  • Incorporate INPO operating experience, NRC communications, and internal assessments into training materials and delivery
  • Participate in NRC inspections, INPO activities, and audits in a supporting training capacity
  • Ensure collection, maintenance, and retention of auditable training records per site and regulatory requirements
  • Assist Training Management with planning, scheduling, and prioritization of training activities during construction, commissioning, and early operations

Preferred qualifications

  • Military nuclear experience of four (4) years or more
  • Combination of relevant experience and academic credentials
